95 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Les Clavelles is a single parcel of powerful and extremely nuanced Grenache Noir grown on Château La Nerthe's estate. After years of careful selection, this plot was identified for its unique ability to express the terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with a single varietal. With a gentle southwest-facing aspect, these vines capture direct sunlight in the late afternoon and are also exposed to the famed Le Mistral, the cold wind from the North. The grapes are hand-picked and hand-sorted, before fermentation in wooden tanks. Pumpovers and punchdowns occur daily during fermentation to ensure optimal extraction of the grapes' compounds. Maceration lasts 3 weeks before the wine ages for 12 months in new French oak barrels.

Tasting note - Intense fragrance of Asian spices and ripe red and dark berries. As subtle and nuanced as Grenache Noir can be, this Cuvée is features elegance, power, exceptional depth, and vibrant energy. The finish is both smooth and solid, showcasing the minerality of this unique parcel.

Food pairing - Pair with rich flavors like braised meats, beef stew, and aged, hard cheeses.
