The first stage of development. In 1855, the first Grand Cru Classe was established. Red Wine that has been classified. In 1959, the Cru Classe de Graves was established. This is the best Pessac-Leognan wine available, according to critics: Adrian van Velsen gave the 2019 vintage a score of 98.
Château Haut-Brion, the first of the three properties owned by the Dillon family, is the oldest winegrowing property in the region, located in the town of Pessac, just a few kilometers from Bordeaux.
Château Haut-Brion wine is made up of 45 percent Merlot, 44 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 9 percent Cabernet Franc, and a smidgeon of Petit Verdot. It is distinguished by its distinctive mineral scents and dark fruit undertones. The first impression is subdued, even reserved. The first taste is also reserved, very soft with precise tannins, but the wine's intensity emerges later, particularly at the unusually lengthy finish. Its noble origins account for its fragrant endurance.
